Introduction

I fancy myself a pretty adept user of the English language, and a man of no little intellect. However, I find myself more and more annoyed at the chain e-mails that circulate with the intention of moving others to write their Congressmen and Senators, or to boycott this or that company, etc. You've all read the kind e-mails that I refer to, "Congress votes to legalize Social Security Benefits For Illegal Aliens", being the most recent to raise my ire. My immediate response to most of these red flag-raising e-mail chains is to run to Snopes.com and get the straight dope, and then to forthwith berate those who thoughtlessly forward such misinformation to other unknowing persons who will in turn feist it upon dozens more of the unsuspecting users of e-mail. I know that I'm tilting at windmills by responding with outrage, nevertheless I can't seem to help myself. Having an intelligent conversation in the polarized society of today about anything controversial is almost impossible; so I've decide to start a blog. If you come across this one in your journeys, welcome aboard and feel free to sound off.
